When you use ThumbThru without signing in, we don't collect any personal information. Book searches and barcode scans are not tied to any identity.
When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. We use this to create your ThumbThru account and display your profile.
If you add children to your family profile, we store their first name, birth month, and birth year. We do not collect last names, full birth dates, or any other identifying information about your children.
Your account information is used to save your family preferences, book ratings, and content filter settings. This data is used solely to provide you with personalized book recommendations and content assessments.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Book content assessments are generated by AI and stored in our database. These assessments are not personal data - they describe books, not users. Assessment data may be viewed by any ThumbThru user.
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides encryption at rest and in transit. We use row-level security to ensure you can only access your own family's data.
We use browser local storage to remember your recent book scans for convenience. We use essential cookies for authentication. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party analytics.
ThumbThru is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon.com. When you click a "Check prices" link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you.
ThumbThru uses the following third-party services:
Google Sign-In for authentication. Google Books API for book metadata. Open Library API for book metadata. Anthropic Claude API for generating content assessments. Amazon links for book pricing (affiliate links may be used in the future).
ThumbThru is designed for parents and guardians. Children do not create accounts or interact with the service directly. The minimal child information we store (first name, birth month/year) is provided by parents and used only for age-appropriate recommendations.
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. You can remove individual children from your family profile at any time through the app.
We may update this policy from time to time. We'll note the date of the most recent update at the top of this page.
