Summary

Set in Mississippi during the 1910s, this story follows young David Logan and his family who own the only well in the area that doesn't run dry during a drought. When the Simms family and other white neighbors must rely on the Logans' well for water, racial tensions escalate, testing the Logan family's dignity and resolve in the face of injustice.
